Team Kemistry Hayes-2021 stayed true to their season strategy by accepting a last minute call to go head up against some new teams.  The Mother'sDayweekend challenge offered an opportunity for the team to face squads that they've never seen before and boy was it worth it.

The team kicked off the tournament against Elite Blazin Bayou from Zachary, Louisiana.  Though the team started off sluggish, they proved to be too much to handle for the well coached Louisiana team.  Zaire Hayes scored 23 points to bring TK Hayes 2021 to a 63-38 victory.  The team scored early claiming a 31-24 lead at the half.  Hayes set the offensive pace going 11 for 16 (69%) from the field.  CJ Jackson, contributed double digits, scoring 12 points (6-for-9).  Meanwhile, both Kyron Drones and Kendrick Paul offered 8 points each to solidify the win.  Jaylon Calvin offered a solid performance on both ends of the floor contributing 7 points, along with Shaun Walker who posted 2 points and 3 rebounds.

Next up....the Memphis Wildcats.  The Wildcats was led by Chandler Lawson (6'2) who is "ranked" on several national sites among the class of 2021 players.  Kyron Drones, put 14 points on the board despite the 52-38 lost to the Wildcats.  Sinking 75% (6-for-8) of his free throws, Kyron played an aggressive game for Kemistry.  CJ Jackson offered another double digit performance with 13 points, while Jacolbi Harris, the teams floor general posted 5 points. With Zaire Hayes and Kendrick Paul only contributing 2 points each, the team was unable to handle the Wildcats ON THIS DAY.  Turnovers, poor shot selections and a lack of intensity on both sides of the ball kept Kemistry out the Platinum bracket.

On Sunday morning, Team Kemistry faced Capital City crushers and a very rowdy group of fans.  That's okay, because Kemistry rallied back from a 39-33 deficit at the half to eject the Crushers from the Gold Cup Bracket.  Once 2021 settled into their game it was all she wrote.  CJ Jackson scored 26 points in the 83-64 victory over the Crushers.  Kyron Drones and Zaire Hayes contributed 18 and 17 points respectively.  Also, contributing for 2021 were Kendrick Paul (7 points) and Jacolbi Harris (4 points).  The boys posted a 50 point second half and the win sent the boys to the Gold bracket championship game.

The only thing that stood between Kemistry Hayes-2021 and the Gold Bracket title was a very physical Baton Rouge Blazers. CJ Jackson showed leadership leading the team with 21 points, again making 100% of his shots from the field.  Jacolbi Harris topped a great weekend off with 11 points continuing to demonstrate significant growth at the point guard position.  Despite his lack of defensive intensity over the weekend, Zaire Hayes posted 11 points contributing his 3rd double digit effort for the weekend.  Kyron Drones, played with aggression the entire weekend and offered 7 points and a crucial steal.  Jaylon Calvin (2 points) continues to be a defensive powerhouse for TK and offers a unique spark of energy and basketball IQ.  Both Kendrick Paul (3 points), Lawrence "Tank" Clark, jr. (2 points and several key rebounds) and Shaun Walker also with key rebounds defensively contributed to the championship win in grand fashion.

Congrats TK 2021 Hayes on stepping up to the plate and pulling off a great performance.  Special shout-out to our Coaches, Hayes and Drones for continuing to push the boys toward great basketball.  The boys couldn't have saluted their mom's in a greater fashion.

TK Hayes: Earns NATIONAL EXPOSURE

4/3/2015

After starting the season in the RCS Sports Spring Ice Breaker Team Kemistry 2021 quickly revealed that they have indeed intensified their level of play.  The boys went 3-0 in pool play defeating in tremendous, Lake Houston Superstars, Galveston Hornets and Houston Hurricanes in bracket play.

The final four match-ups in the Spring Ice Breaker, touted big names including Houston Hoops, Rytes Warriors, Nike Pro Skills (5th grade) and Team Kemistry.  Nike Pro Skills pulled off a 4 point battle and Team Kemistry fell to Houston Hoops 46-48. The Hoops pulled off the tournament win beating Nike Pro SKills by 2.

The scoring attack during the SIB weekend was lead by TK 2021 Christian Jackson a strong presence on both the defensive and offensive side of the ball.  Jacolbi Harris (TK 2021) is having a breakout season with what appears to be a renewed confidence in his game.  He shares the point position with Jaylon Calvin a lefty who knows the game very well and has the ability to be a great floor general.  As he builds his right hand the guard play will only improve.  Zaire Hayes played relentlessly in the semi-finals game against Hoops, posting 17 points with Christian Jackson posting 18 points.  The effort was valiant but not enough.

Up next was the Future 150 Houston Tournament.  This highly anticipated tournament provides an impressive level of exposure to players.  TK 2021 Hayes offered a nationally recognized performance in the Future 150 Houston.  The boys quickly became a tournament favorite after going 3-0 in pool play defeating Total Package 2021 (led by 6'5 6th grade Reuben "Duece" Fatheree) 55-53.  Christian Jackson left a strong impression on the evaluators ending the game with a strong assist to Kyron Drones and a last second block preventing Duece from sending the game into overtime!

A rematch against TP also proved that the boys have kicked things up a notch beating them again in the semi-finals...this time by 9.  It was an intense game drew another crowd was easily considered championship worthy.

The boys however; learned a very valuable lesson about endurance, effort and teamwork after a four point loss to Elevation Sports in the Championship game...a surprising tournament upset.
With a national social media following of over 16.6 thousand, TK 2021 Hayes are the 2015 Future 150 Houston-Runner's Up.

TK CHATMAN Charges through March

4/3/2015

Team Kemistry presented with a solid start of the 2015 competitive season.  Here are a few updates from March 2015.

TK 2022 Chatman (5th Grade) participated in the highly anticipated RCS SPorts Spring Ice Breaker.  Both teams performed exceptionally well going undefeated in pool play.   TK 2022 defeated D Gibs Hoops and LA Jaguars.  The boys however, fell to a older ITP Pacers who ultimately went on the win the tournament in the semi-finals.  A final four appearance in the kick-off tournament gave the boys great confidence.

The boys followed up their season kick-off in the Houston Sports Access King of the Court Tourney.  It was a tough weekend with the boys losing every game in close fashion.  Across three games, the boys lost by a total of 6 points, indicating that they were indeed  formidable and competitive opponents.  Though the losses were tough, the team walked away with clear areas that need fine tuning and with a bit of increased intensity they should continue to improve. Notably, missing was scoring threat Ariek Holcombe who has been a solid component to the teams offense since last year.

Standouts so far
TK 2022 welcomes a very athletic and tenacious Dillon Bell to the squad who has quickly offered the predominately veteran team with a natural spark. Simply put, he's everywhere and as he continues to learn the game, his natural athleticism will be a valuable asset to the team.
Je'Cory Chatman still presents as the offensive catalyst of the squad and as he continues to develop his basketball IQ and confidence in his quickness he's going to be a force to reckon with.  Calien Graham is quickly evolving as a no holds barred beast in the paint.  His presence is unmatched and has grown tremendously in his offensive presence since last season.  Defensively, Omani Ozenne is a problem for opposing guards.  He disrupts the opponents offense with multiple steals a game and will become a stronger on both sides of the ball as he develops a more controlled game offensively.

Kicking OFF 2015 AS CHAMPS: Congrats TK 2022 (5th Grade)

PLAY HARD~ PLAY SMART~ PLAY TOGETHER

TK 2022 (5th grade) lived up to our founding motto and we couldn't be more proud of this promising group of boys.  The Kemistry was remarkable, so there was no shock that the boys headed into the Primetime Tournament and dominated the bracket with an undefeated record (43-17 vs. KP Wildcats, 50-14 vs. ROBS and 43-27 against North Channel Cyclones).  Though we certainly anticipate stiffer competition over the competitive season this tune-up was as excellent opportunity to gauge the talent on the squad...

Congrats Trey Weary (#1), JaCory Chatman (#2), Cailen Graham (6), Ariek Holcombe (#7), Jalen Timmer (#9), Dillon Bell (#30) and Caleb Mathis-Miller (#32) on a job well done.
Big thanks to Coach Chatman and Weary for your excellent performance on the sideline!!

Team Kemistry: A FORCE to Reckon With!

In it's third year as an organziation, TK Hayes continued its climb toward success with an amazing performance at the convenant Pearland Classic Tournament.  The organization proved that with a winning combincation of player development, commitment and INTEGRITY...THEY COULD NOT BE BEAT.

The group kicked off the tournament with a big win over Houston Hurricanes.  In a much anticipated face off against San Antonio Hardwork, TK 2021 pulled off a 49-29 win over the much respected group of talented players.  Earning a place in the Gold Division Bracket, TK faced off with West Texas Force.  In a game that was noticeably dominated by a much older player(s)  the legimate TK 11U fell 30-33; however a rightful protest left the FORCE disqualified (as they were not able to provide appropriate age/grade documentation).

KEMISTRY was now left with the challenge of proving that they not only belonged in the semi finals legally but that they were undoubtedly CHAMPIONSHIP  material.  And the team did just that....defeating CFSA DimeZ by a marginial 20 point lead in the semi finals.  The championship game would cap the weekend off and serve as the fourth match up of the season between TK and SETX Heat from Beaumont.  In the end, a 38-26 win over the Heat would crown the TK 11 and under group Pearland Classic Gold Division Champions.

Coaches and boys, we are beyond proud of your ability to compete within the boundaries of the rules, while proving that hardwork and commitment pays off both on and off the court.  What you learned this weekend was that... not only are you able to dig deep when the chips are stacked against you but that you will always be supported by an ORGANIZATION who understands that the FORCE of Team Kemistry is BIGGER THAN THE BASKETBALL.

SN:  Last year this group finished as Silver Bracket Champions.  It's amazing what you can accomplish when you stick together and Grind.
