The streak continues for TK 2021 after winning the 2013 Rytes Warriors Spring Summerfest. The boys took on Total Package with a 32-22 win and the Louisiana Blue Devils (53-4).
In what was considered an "ugly" win the boys struggled to find their rhythm against the Texas Gym Rats but prevailed 20-10.
Closing out the tournament was a whooping win over San Antonio Hardwork 34-15. It was a great performance by all the boys.
This week we are highlighting breakout performances by Lawrence Clark (center) and Cannary Simmons (shooting guard) in the championship game. KP Paul also performed very well this weekend contributing a career high against the Blue Devils with 15 points contributing to the teams whooping win. Jalcobi Harris (30), Caleb Hill (22), Kyron Drones (18), Collin Wright(14) and Zaire Hayes (14) contributed double digit points over the weekend. Jaylon Calvin (7 TP) maintained his dominating performance on defense giving his team the necessary spark to pull through the weekend. Again, Zaire Hayes, Kyron Drones and KP Paul crashed the boards all weekend. The collaborative effort was and continues to be the driving force behind the success of TK 2021!
It has been one exciting season for the class of 2021 4th grade 10U Team Kemistry Basketball Team. Often described as tenacious for their aggressive defensive play, this group continues to prove that they are indeed on the right track.
This past Memorial day weekend, the TK 2021 group proved to be among the elite as they advanced to the final four in their first NOLA Super 60 appearance. Beating most of their opponents by double digits, the group faced off with The Louisiana Legends and Arkansas Hawks in pool play and prevailed with a 33-12 and 23-34 respectively. Falling into a pool that required one additional game more than the other pools (4 vs. 3 games), the boys were up against a tough challenge to make a championship appearance on day the final day of the tournament.
They beat Texas rivals Next Level Raiders 39-31 and 12th ranked Memphis War Eagles (in the national AAU 4 th grade rankings) 27-49 before falling to Texas Select in the Final Four with a 53-42 loss. The boys, though fatigued were just a win away from taking to the big stage in the championship game in the 2013 NOLA Super 60.
As tough of a loss as this was....TK 2021 proved that are here and here to stay!
Overall, the Team was lead in points by Point Guard Caleb Hill, Jacolbi Harris (shooting guards) and Zaire Hayes (shooting guards). Defensive powerhouses Jaylon Calvin put pressure at the top of the floor, while Kryon Drones and Jalen Walthall played beasty on the boards. Third grader Collin Wright always poised and composed served valiantly in his role as point guard. Lawrence Clark, Cannary Simmons, Jamel Foster, and KP Paul rounded out the squad with their notable contributions.
